Sew projects for the baby

So i recently got into sewing, and I love it! I'm finding more and more projects that I want to do. But being the beginner that I am, I have to have really simple and easy tutorials to be able to understand them myself.

So here it is all the tutorials I found interesting or needed.

#1 The diaper clutch. This tutorial was super easy, I just read through it a few time, it gave me an idea of what to do then I just winged it!

#2 On my list is a boppy cover, I actually attempted to make a tutorial but, its not the best. So I found the next best thing. They made theirs with a zipper, mine is just a flip over one, kinda like a pillow case.

#3 Fitted Crib Sheet. My mother in law and I did this with minky fabric. It wasn't as bad as some people say it is. It does roll up a little and it does shed but we were able to manage!
Easy fitted sheet instructions. Make fitted from a flat sheet.

#4 Car Seat Cover. I have yet to make this but I have bought all the things to get it done, excited about this one, although it is in the middle of July... WAY to hot for it right now!

#5 Baby Sling- I'm not big on the wraps or backpack looking things, I just want something simple to carry the baby in, and I wont have to worry about "hey I didn't wrap it tight enough." I don't want to drop a baby on the ground! hahah

30 Minute Boppy Cover Tutorial

Probably the easiest thing I have ever made!

First off you will need about a yard of fabric. I just used all the same fabric, but you can mix and match if you wanted.
PS. I used 1/2 seam allowance.

1. You will need to cut out one full side of your fabric.
2. The fabric at the widest point is 27" wide, and 24" long
P.S. I just laid my boppy out onto fabric and eye balled how to cut it, leaving  1/2" extra for my seam allowance
3. Next I cut my second piece which will go in the middle
P.S.  You will lay this one in the middle, and you will need to hem the straight side down
4. Next cut out the back piece.
P.S. this piece will go on top.
5. Now gather all your pieces
PS. Orange piece(the full piece) should be right side facing, then face the pink and green downward,(wrong side facing) Orange should be on bottom, pink in the middle and green on top.
6. Pin them together.
7.Pin them all together then sew around the edge with a 1/2 seam allowance.
8.  Once you have that all sewn together you will be ready to flip it open, and insert your boppy!

Hospital Bag Check List!

I have 20 some odd days left before my induction date (July 22, 2013) and like the procrastinator that I am, I have not completely packed my hospital bag.

Its just a tough decision to tread in unmarked waters (this is my first child). So I have been researching and researching what I could possibly need or want to bring with me to the hospital, all without overloading my bag.

So here it is.

FOR THE MAMA

__ ID, insurance card, cash(for the vending machines)
__ Snack (lets face it everyone knows hospital food stinks)
__ Nursing cover ( I plan to breast feed, we will see how that goes!)
__ My own pillow (all my friends say they wish they would have packed it)
__ After Delivery outfit (I packed jogging Capri, a nursing tank, and a zip-up hoodie)
__ Nursing bra(s)
__ Stretchy bra(s) ( Like a sports bra, cause lets face it, you will want to be comfortable but able to contain the girlies)
__ Undies (I bought brand new cotton undies, in dark color, that way I wont miss them if I have to get rid of them lol)
__ Socks (a few of my friends say non-slip socks, that way if you are walking you wont fall)
__ Outfit to wear home (I'm packing stretchy running shorts, and a t-shirt)
__ Birth Plan( there are two that I found one from the Baby Center and one from Earthmomma both I liked)

FOR THE DADDY

__ Spare change of clothes         __ Deodorant     __ Snacks
__ Tooth Brush                          __ Socks            __ Pop or water

TOILETRIES

__ Toothbrush/ Toothpaste           __ Makeup
__ Deodorant                               __ Hair Ties/Head band
__ Face wash/ Face lotion            __ Gel/ Moose/ Hair spray (if you even care at that point lol)
__ Razor                                      __ Breast Pads
__ Nipple Cream                          __ Prep- H
__ Medication (prenatal, tums)
__ Maxi Pads/ Depends ( some of my friends used depends, instead of the hospital underwear diaper thing they give you, I myself will probably just go with thunder pads)

ENTERTAINMENT/ ELECTRONICS

__ Phone                 __  Laptop                  __ Camera                __ Note Pad/Pen
__ Phone Charger    __ Laptop charger      __ Camera Charger

FOR THE DIAPER BAG

__ 1-2 Receiving Blankets (I'm using swaddling blankets made by  they are much bigger)
__ 2-3 Outfit ( who knows what you want to bring them home in, to be on the safe side I would pack Newborn and 0-3)
__ Baby Book ( if you want to get the hand and foot print done right them)
__ Boppy/ Nursing Pillow (with a extra cover, I know I wont be a pro at breastfeeding at first)
__ Car Seat ( installed)

I'm still editing and changing this so if you have something you would recommend or something you found not useful feel free to leave a comment!
